A HEPA air purifier sized for your room is the simplest way to cut dust, pollen, pet dander and wildfire smoke indoors. Size it by smoke CADR, then budget for filters.
Buy right once: A smoke CADR of at least two-thirds of the room's square footage (8 ft ceilings) is the AHAM rule of thumb. Oversize so the quiet setting is enough.
Product types
Heavy carbon + HEPA
Large carbon beds for smoke odor, gases and VOCs, with long-life filters.
Example: Austin Air HealthMate, filter rated up to 5 years
Sensor-driven HEPA
Air-quality sensor adjusts the fan automatically; quieter and lighter.
Example: PuroAir 400 or 240
